Leading property investment firm, Starwood Capital Group has appointed QDOS-sbl Group as Telecommunications supplier for YOTEL’s first city centre hotel in mainland Europe.
The new YOTEL Amsterdam built on the banks of the Tolhuis Canal, is at the epicentre of the up-and-coming Buiksloterham neighbourhood. Home to start-ups and creative businesses, the area is also brimming with hip bars, experimental festivals and modern architecture. The 202-cabin hotel offers all-day dining, a stunning outdoor deck and a one-of-a-kind al-fresco cinema.
YOTEL’s mission statement is ‘We embrace technology to create a seamless experience’ and this new addition to the brand is no exception, combining affordable luxury ‘cabin’ accommodation and clever technological innovation. YOTEL Amsterdam offers airline-style self check-in kiosks for quick and easy guest check-in along with ‘KOMYUNITI’ – a functional space described as ‘the beating heart of the hotel’ for guests to network, connect, work or relax. Super-fast and free WIFI is available throughout the hotel, along with relaxing mood lights, numerous charging points and HD Smart TV’s that can easily be connected to guests’ own devices.
A virtualised Mitel MiVoice 3300 MXe Hospitality Telephone System installed and commissioned by QDOS-sbl provides a scalable, reliable communications platform that offers guests a faster, more personalised service. The system incorporates small gestures that make a big difference like remembering guest names and preferences, whilst protecting their privacy at all times – integrating with the intuitive StayNTouch cloud based hospitality property management solution.
The Mitel MiVoice 3300 MXe platform also allows YOTEL to simplify and accelerate their operations with communications solutions and applications that are tailored for hospitality businesses. For example, the Mitel MiVoice 3300 MXe platform will free staff from their desks using the Mitel MiCollab mobile solution that lets them serve guests, complete tasks and stay in touch while on the move. With a mobile app that’s customised for hotel processes and property features, YOTEL staff can work and communicate in real time, no matter where they are on the property, giving them freedom and flexibility to streamline workflows, reduce staff workloads and accelerate service.
Simon Catterick, of QDOS-sbl Group said: “We are proud to have been chosen by Starwood Capital for this exciting new project. We’ve no doubt that as with the other YOTEL properties we’ve worked on for Starwood Capital in Edinburgh and Glasgow, the new hotel in Amsterdam will have the wow factor, offering a whole new hotel experience, allowing independent, tech-savvy travellers to work, meet, connect, and socialise. The solution delivered by QDOS-sbl meets YOTEL brand standard requirements for Telephony and fulfils the current demands of a busy full-service hotel. In addition to QDOS-sbl providing support around the clock, Mitel Software Assurance will protect and enhance the long-term value of the Mitel solution providing the hotel with the best, most up-to-date system capabilities whilst being prepared for the latest technology developments”
