The Hotel Indigo Stratford upon Avon has opened its doors, after a major multi-million pound restoration project. This unique boutique hotel launched with the reassurance of Converged IT and Telecoms systems from QDOS-sbl.

Just as no two neighbourhoods are alike, no two Hotel Indigo properties are the same. Each is designed to uniquely reflect the local culture, character and history of the surrounding area. Hotel Indigo aim to create a memorable experience by combining the modern design and intimate service associated with a boutique hotel, with the conveniences and consistencies guests expect from staying at one of the world’s largest hotel groups, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG).

Formerly The Falcon Hotel, the Grade 2 listed historic building, which dates back to the 16th Century, has been painstakingly restored over a 20 month period, forming the individual and fascinating Hotel Indigo Stratford upon Avon. The decorative black and white half-timbered building is blended with modern, stylish, contemporary bedrooms, lounges, a restaurant and bar, providing guests with a unique boutique hotel experience.

The 93 guest rooms are designed to follow a theme, each inspired by the history of the town. The Georgian Townhouse rooms offer a touch of luxury combined with homely charm and present a sophisticated and elegant look and feel. The Tudor Rooms, which mainly offer views over the site of Shakespeare’s New Place, celebrate and embrace the authentic architectural quirks of the original 16th Century property. The Contemporary Rooms in the newer wing, offer a sophisticated and elegant design. Within the hotel there will be a very special restaurant named ‘The Woodsman’, a definitively British offering focussing on its amazing wood fired oven and charcoal grill. Mike Robinson, who owns London’s only Michelin starred pub, The Harwood Arms, is bringing the best wild and farmed ingredients sourced from the local area together with real ale and a serious wine list, all enhanced by incredible service.

St James Hotels commissioned QDOS-sbl to provide a Converged IT and Telecoms platform to meet the brand standards of international hotel company, IHG and the requirements of a leading boutique hotel. The solution provided by QDOS-sbl was deployed on time to meet operational requirements, with cost-effective one off capital costs and low ongoing operating costs. A Mitel MiVoice 3300 MXe Hospitality Telephone System was installed to provide a scalable, reliable communications platform in order to offer guests a faster, more personalised service. Incorporating small gestures that make a big difference, like remembering guest names and preferences and providing timely service whilst protecting their privacy at all times by integrating with the innovative Amadeus hospitality property management solution.

HP servers were configured using Hyper V technology software on which multiple virtual machines run, increasing IT agility, flexibility and scalability while making IT simpler to manage and less costly to own and operate. In addition, a range of HP laptops and PC’s were provided to meet the needs of the front desk and back of house teams. Sophos Intercept X was installed to provide the industry’s most comprehensive endpoint protection, built to stop the widest range of cyber threats. In addition, the Microsoft Office 365 Business subscription service includes access to Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and online productivity services, as well as business services such as web conferencing, hosted email, and online storage. The biggest advantage of Office 365 is the ability for the hotel team to work from anywhere as long as they have an internet connection. Being entirely cloud-based, they can access email, files and Office programs from any location and any device.

Cloud-based Datto Remote Monitoring and Management tools were deployed enabling the QDOS-sbl technical team to deliver IT and Telecoms managed services by using a system that empowers them to focus on what matters most – delivering better service, faster on a 24/7 basis.

Simon Catterick, CEO of QDOS-sbl Group said “having now delivered a blend of Converged IT and Telecoms systems to over 150 IHG centrally managed and franchised hotels across the UK, North America and Europe, we are excited to be working with St James Hotels who have played a vital role in restoring this magnificent Tudor building for residents and visitors to enjoy for centuries to come.”
