Two new hotels located in the brand new state-of-the-art venue, The Event Complex Aberdeen (TECA) have recently opened with the reassurance of IT and Telecoms solutions provided by QDOS-sbl Group. Both the Hilton Aberdeen TECA and Aloft Aberdeen TECA are highly respected and individual hotels run by leading independent hotel management company, RBH Hotels, who manage over 45 hotels across the UK, from full-service country retreats to limited-service city-centre hotels. 

The Hilton Aberdeen TECA, which adjoins the multi-million pound P&J Live indoor arena, offers 200 stylish bedrooms. It presents outstanding facilities such as a destination restaurant and cocktail bar, a spa and fitness club, an executive lounge and seven state-of-the-art meeting rooms. The hotel is the latest addition to the growing Hilton Hotels & Resorts portfolio, one of Hilton’s 17 market-leading brands.

The 150-bedroom Aloft Aberdeen TECA, is the first design of its kind in Scotland – targeting next generation travellers and offering tech-forward amenities, live music and urban-style interiors. Situated next door to the 15,000 capacity P&J Live venue, which will see some of the world’s biggest acts perform live, the hotel, which is part of the Marriott brand family, is only the third Aloft in the UK, and the very first in Scotland.

Long-term client, RBH, appointed QDOS-sbl Group as the IT and Telecommunications supplier and consultant with a brief to meet Hilton and Marriott technical brand standard requirements for front-of-house and back-office systems. It was necessary to deploy cost effective solutions to fulfil the current demands of busy full service hotels, with an inbuilt flexible upgrade path given the fast pace of technical innovation in the hospitality sector.

Both hotels utilise Mitel MiVoice 3300 MXe Hospitality Telephone Systems, installed and commissioned by QDOS-sbl to provide a scalable, reliable communications platform to offer guests a faster, more personalised service. The system incorporates small gestures that make a big difference, remembering guest names and preferences and providing timely service, whilst protecting their privacy at all times by integrating with hospitality property management solutions that improve productivity. The Mitel platform also allows hotel staff to simplify and accelerate their operations with communications solutions and applications that are tailored for hospitality businesses. For example, staff are freed from their desks using the Mitel MiCollab mobile solution that lets them serve guests, complete tasks and stay in touch while on the move. With a mobile app that’s customised for hotel processes and property features, staff can work and communicate in real time, no matter where they are on the property, giving them freedom and flexibility to streamline workflows and accelerate service.

Hewlett Packard servers, using VMWare technology software on which multiple virtual machines run, have been installed, increasing IT agility, flexibility and scalability while making it simpler to manage and less costly to own and operate. In addition, high-performance HP Desktops and business ProBook’s together with high-capacity multi-function printers are deployed to meet the needs of the front desk and back of house teams. Network-attached storage (NAS) data storage servers are connected providing data access. Services such as HPE Integrated Lights Out (iLO) provide tools to manage the servers efficiently, featuring the latest innovations in simplified operations, performance, and security, so as to manage the entire server environments with ease.

With the need to offer super-fast WIFI everywhere in the hotels, QDOS-sbl installed 1GB Fibre Internet Leased Lines, enabling guests to use more devices, in more places, with the same great connection, from the moment they check in. And SIP Telephone Lines provide RBH with the ability to predict low monthly telephony costs with mobile-failover as a form of redundancy, via an easy-to-use administrative portal for simple management.
